Deadline for Customs Declaration Service (CDS) Transition 4 June 2024

Published in Uncategorized 4 June 2024

As part of the final phase of the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) transition, HMRC has set a new deadline for today, June 4, 2024, for all businesses to switch from the old Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system. After today, the CHIEF system will no longer accept any new customs declarations.

In 2023, HMRC announced a phased approach for UK businesses transitioning from Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) to Customs Declaration Service (CDS) system for exports.

The phased approach was established by HMRC and its delivery partners to build on existing IT testing and conduct additional performance analysis as businesses with current IT functionality begin to migrate.

At WBS we have already migrated to CDS and our in-house customs team are ready to assist you with both your import and export declarations. Our experienced operators, supported by our exclusive customs partners in France can arrange your regime 40 and 42 clearances.

In addition to our authorised consignee and consignor approvals, our onsite ETSF’s across the country (South-Wickford, North Dewsbury) can handle both northern and southern movements.
